Iraqi prime minister: Trump used diplomatic cover to lure Soleimani to his death

President Donald Trump has been accused of committing a war crime after claims that Iranian General Qassem Soleimani was lured to Iraq, where he was assassinated by a U.S. drone strike on Friday.

I hate to say this, but I trust him more than I trust our politicians.

If he was coming to commit some act of violence vigilante style against the laws of Iraq, then i don’t see why the pm would lie about it.

Because the big question is “why was Soleimani there?” Was he there because he was tricked into some meeting, or was he there to kill a bunch of people. And I don’t see why the PM would lie. And I do see why Trump would lie and Trump lies all the time.

“A foreign agent is coming to my country to commit a violent act that will escalate things right in my back yard against my will, but I’m going to lie about it to save his reputation.” It sounds pretty stupid. It sounds like something one of the less intelligent Trump supporters would say (I’m not saying they’re all unintelligent).
I think Trump killed Soleimani simply because he had the opportunity to do it. I don’t believe Trump’s stories that he was pre-empting something that Soleimani was going to do

Chris Matthews just said it best. If you kill someone who is robbing a bank with a gun, it’s self-defense. But if you go hunt someone down in their house and then claim they were going to rob a bank, that’s murder. And there’s frankly zero evidence that this was self-defense and a lot of suspicion that it wasn’t. Again, I trust the Iraqi PM, not the vague claims that it was self-defense.

I understand that he was a high ranking general, but he’s part of a legitimate state, not a terrorist organization.
