A good strategy in politics is to say politically incorrect stuff, then later tone it down. What happens is that everyone assumes you’re toning it down for pc reasons and don’t believe what you’re saying. But then you also pick up new supporters.
People who used this strategy : Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Robert Byrd, Strom Thurmond, Richard Nixon, Lyndon Johnson (he was privately racist), you could even say David Duke while he was an elected representative and Daryl Basarab is just another one of 500 of them.
