The fight between conservative populists and liberals happened in Russia too. Stalin was basically a conservative communist (it sounds funny). Trotsky was basically a liberal.
A big lie, it’s even on wikipedia, is that Trotsky and Lenin were ideologically congruent, and it was only by fluke that Stalin got into power. Actually, Lenin was regarded and regarded himself as a right wing deviation. He lead logically to Stalin.
