Immigrants have a place, but using them to makeover the face of America was something that JFK was against and will fail – you can’t transmit a society like that. You’re not going to take American institutions but replace the natives inside them.
edit: Imagine if we all went to Mexico, do you think there would be a perfectly smooth assimilation, that outside of looking different physically, culturally we’d be the same? No, it wouldn’t go that smooth. we’d bring our culture, language with us. You can’t plunge immigration like an aggressive plunger.
And people of ethnic tribes, like Jews, they over estimate the ability of people to change their nationhood and underestimate how much they themselves have been assimilated by their surrounding countries, because you learn culture YOUNG.
