There are reasonable arguments that a conservative Democrat can make on abortion. For instance, it would be a lot like banning suicide. In that you can’t really stop it. You will change the method, but you won’t stop it.
If someone was in danger of committing suicide, you wouldn’t threaten them with empty threats. You’d try to persuade them.
However more liberal Democrats do not take these talking points, they discuss the issue completely differently.
