In my harsh opinion, Trump had to happen. Trump’s election was a lesson we had to learn. We had to learn the difference between fantasy and reality. Between promises and actual activism. Between caring about the left behind and pretending to. For some people, the politicians before him didn’t prove it enough.
The establishment needed to know that they work for us, we don’t work for them. The neoliberalism was getting too blatant in both political parties. So we had to throw some kind of wrench in it, and then at the same time, learn the hard lesson that the wrench was just as insincere as the people who came before the wrench.
