Organized Labor and Republican LogicGB819: October 5, 2020 |

Let me explain a problem with the Republican mentality. Sometimes you have to let a “bad guy” go in order to not inconvenience a bunch of good people.
It is true that big powerful organized labor will allow some bad employees to keep their jobs who should be fired. But take these organized labor institutions away – like Ronald Reagan did – and a bunch of good people will also get fired. Corporations are too incompetent to know the difference and nepotism and favoritism run rampant in white collar jobs anyways.
So while there is a con to hardcore labor activism, it’s heavily outweighed by the pros.
An analogy is probable cause. If you pulled over everyone who looked like someone who drives on a suspended license, you inconvenience all those people just to get one person. That’s why they require you to blow a light or have an outdated inspection sticker in order to get you instead of just looking like someone who doesn’t have license. Otherwise a bunch of other people get inconvenienced. You can’t cause inconvenience to a large number of people just to get 1 guy, unless it’s a serious crime.
Thus we need organized labor and need everyone to have to be in the unions, or we screw over good people who get fired, just because others may deserve to be fired. Once cause is proven through a thorough and secure system, the bad employee can still be fired – eventually.
